Three Dishes To Try: L'Avenue

Three Dishes To Try: L'Avenue

Hi. How's it going?

So listen... can I have your number?

...

I'm not sorry.

Watch it. Now.

Okay now back to me.

L'avenue is one of those places that opened up in the mini-338 area in Saar, across from Saar Cinema (where Villa Mamas is). They have some yumyums that we genuinely believe are worth trying. So here are our three favorites (I took the photos from L'avenue's Instagram account, because I thought about this post when I was having lunch with my new in-laws - as opposed to my old in-laws... - and I didn't want them to see me taking pictures of the food):

Appetizer: Toasted Ravioli

This though. This is definitely the L'avenue must-have. There's no point in going there if you're not going to have the toasted ravioli. It's ravioli stuffed with spinach, and toasted so that it looks and tastes like chips. And then you dip it into this creamy sauce. It's like an Italian chips-and-dip.

So good.

Main Course: Shireen Plou

I don't know why they spell this "plou," it's basically shikar polo or shireen polo.

For those of you who don't know, this is a dish that consists of sweetened rice (it's a subtle sweetness through caramelization and combination of sweet and tangy herbs), and a bowl of qeema (pretty much a beef stew, with lentils and crispy onions).

The combination of the two contrasting elements is delicious, because they balance each other out. A very impressive take on a classic Persian dish.

Tip: Ask them for extra beef in the qeema, makes it extra satisfying.

Main Course: Penne Contadina

Uh.

The basic all-around pasta, with a creamy mixed sauce and some nice grilled chicken. If you're a pasta lover, it's so good. They're very generous with the sauce, which is mixed very well, and the chicken and pasta are both cooked perfectly. It's a generous serving so it will definitely fill you up.

Honorable Mention: Broccoli Soup

The first time I went to L'avenue, they recommended this soup, and I'm glad they did. Creamy and delicious.

The Three Dishes I Want To Try:

I just love pizza. So much.

That looks like such a cakey brownie. And there's ice cream on top. It's such a basic dessert WHY haven't I had this yet?

Listen.

Listen.

That's French Toast.

LISTEN. There's Nutella inside.

Sigh.
