DC Collectibles: Zero Year Batman
This review is part of The Batman Collector series.
What we have here is the DC Collectibles DC Comics Designer Action Figures Series - 3: The Zero Year Batman by Greg Capullo Action Figure, based on the Zero Year arc by him and Scott Snyder.
The Greg Capullo series has really really gorgeous figures. Although I don't plan on getting all 16 figures in the series, I do expect to get the 3 Batman figures, and the 3 Joker figures (already own 3 out of 6, so I'm halfway there!).
The box isn't something to put on display, and the figure doesn't come with many accessories. It comes with a grapple gun that can NOT be held using any of the hands; it's just there to be in its holster. The two small batarangs are easy to lose, so put them inside the extra hand, because they fit perfectly and tightly. But switching the hands is very hard and annoying. The quality of the figure is absolutely great; the feel and the matte finish make it an excellent piece for display.
This piece's competitor is Mattel's Multiverse Batman Zero Year, which, to be honest, wouldn't stand a chance against DC Collectibles. It just looks a little too much like a toy for me with a shiny, plastic-y finish. It only has one piece of the "Justice Buster," so you'd have to collect all the figures in the series to complete it, which most people never will. Also, the details on this DC Collectibles one are much better; the difference is noticeable when you compare the heads of both figures.
Pro Tip: if you want a great New 52 Batman Figure, go for the one from the first wave of this series, if you're a fan of Zero Year Batman, I think the Survival Gear Batman looks cooler than this one.
Price range: $20-$35.
